A new course in 2020: Information for existing students

Governance Institute currently offers the following postgraduate courses

We are no longer accepting admissions for these courses.

Governance Institute has replaced the current three courses with a new Graduate Diploma of Applied Corporate Governance and Risk Management with an early exit option of a Graduate Certificate of Applied Corporate Governance and Risk Management. This course is aligned to changes to the Chartered Governance Institute's (formerly known as ICSA) international qualifying program.

The Graduate Certificate is a foundational course for governance and risk professionals. Students who progress to the Graduate Diploma will complete the qualifying program for the designation Chartered Secretary or Chartered Governance Professionalavailable through membership with The Chartered Governance Institute.

What this means for you

If you’re enrolled in one of our current courses, depending on your progress, you will either complete that course or transition into our new course. Governance Institute will advise you on how to progress based on the following key principles.

You will either:

  1. continue with your current course if you can complete the remaining subjects by the end of semester 1, 2021, or
  2. transition into the new course and continue your study in 2020.

If you continue with your course, you must, where applicable, complete Risk Management in Practice and Financial and Management Accounting by no later than semester 2, 2020. We will not be offering Advanced Risk Management or Corporate Financial Management beyond 2019. If you need to complete these subjects you will be required to complete their equivalent subjects, (available from semester 1, 2020):

  • Enterprise Risk Management
  • Finance for Decision-making.

If you transition into our new courses, the credit you gained in your current course will be transferred to the new course.
