President's commentary — Where next for whistleblowing reform?

In February 2017, Governance Institute lodged submissions with the Federal Government Joint Committee of Inquiry into whistleblower protections under existing legislation. 

These submissions confirmed members' support for legislation that encourages the disclosure of wrongdoing in companies, and also that stakeholders, including individual employees and their representative bodies, should be able to freely communicate to senior management, the board and regulators their concerns about illegal or unethical practices and their rights should not be compromised for doing this.
